What we fix
A transformer or driver sits above the ceiling, out of sight, and steps the voltage down for the lamp. When it fails the lamp looks dead, so people replace the bulb twice before calling.
A downlight dead with a new bulb in
The classic sign. The lamp is fine and the driver behind it has failed.
A failed halogen transformer
The older wire-wound or electronic type, replaced with a matched unit.
A failed LED driver
The driver replaced and matched to the lamps, so they run at the right output.
Downlights failing one by one

Usually a driver and lamp that do not match, or a dimmer that is not LED rated.

How to tell it is the driver
If a new lamp makes no difference, and the other lights on the same switch still work, it is almost always the transformer or driver above the ceiling.
If the lamps flicker, strobe or buzz, the driver and the lamps do not match, or the dimmer is not LED rated. Replacing the bulbs again will not fix it.
If the whole circuit is dead or the breaker trips, that is a lighting fault rather than a driver, and it is priced on our lighting fault repair page.

Usually the transformer or LED driver behind it has failed. Silver Saints replaces the driver rather than replacing the lamp again.
