We have NICEIC registered electricians amongst our team of multi-trade Saints.
The electrical work that needs to be carried out by an NICEIC registered electrician includes:
- circuit alteration or addition in a special location*
- installation of one or more new circuits
- installation of a replacement consumer unit (fuse box)
- rewire of all circuits
- partial rewire
- new full electrical installation (new build)
* Certain zones within a room containing a bath or shower, or a room containing a swimming pool or sauna heater.
We charge £75+vat per hour for specialist electrical installations and repairs.

Electrical fault finding, inspection and testing
We have NICEIC registered electricians amongst our team of multi-trade Saints who have both the experience and specialist equipment to undertake domestic electrical fault finding and periodic inspection and testing (Also known as the Landlord’s Electrical Report or Electrical Installation Condition Report - EICR)
All electrical installations deteriorate with age and use. They should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to check whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use.
There seems to be a prevailing belief amongst the Electrical industry that EICRs are a “loss leader” which will generate more lucrative follow-on remedial work. Silver Saints strongly resist this idea, as it simply incentivises failing current installations and can lead to unscrupulous practices. EICRs are an important stand-alone safety check, the testing and inspection of existing circuits takes time and the accurate assessment and results are an important indication of the current safety and integrity of the existing circuits.
Silver Saints do not treat the Electrical Installation Condition Report process as a way to generate further work. We urge potential customers to be wary of very cheap EICRs for this reason.
An EICR periodic electrical inspection will:
- Record the results of the inspection and testing to make sure the electrical installation is safe to be used until the next inspection (following any work needed to make it safe)
- Find any damage and wear and tear that might affect safety, and report it
- Find any parts of the electrical installation that do not meet the IET Wiring Regulations
- Help find anything that may cause electric shocks and high temperatures
- Provide and important record of the installation at the time of the inspection, and for inspection testing in the future.
The electrical power supply will be turned on and off several times during the inspection visit so please be prepared to be without power for the duration of the visit.

The price an electrical periodic inspection depends on the number of electrical circuits: Up to 12 circuits - £349+vat, More than 12 circuits - £75+vat per hour.
