Every home and office has areas of ceramic tiling. Ceramic tiles are attractive and durable. They also resist water and heat. Because tiles are so durable and because they are expensive to fit, tiled areas often remain in place for many years. Tiles with a smooth glaze are relatively easy to keep clean. However, many tiles today, especially floor tiles, do not have a smooth glaze and over time the surface attracts a layer of grime which resists normal cleaning with a cloth and detergent. The problem is even more acute with grout. All grout, especially in showers and on floors will discolour with grime over time and conventional cleaning simply cannot cope. Fortunately Silver Saints can offer a cost effective solution.

What is involved?

Silver Saints uses a specialist steam cleaner for cleaning tiles. This uses superheated steam at 130°C. Combined with special cleaning agents, this steam has the capacity to loosen and “blow out” particles of grime from tile surfaces and grout. The grime is then mopped up with a dry cloth leaving your tiled surfaces looking fresher than you could ever imagine.

How long?

This will depend on the degree of soiling as well as the number of grout lines. As a guide, a kitchen floor of 5m x 4m should take about 2 hours.

Silver Saints will bring all the equipment and materials needed.

How much?

There is a minimum charge of £60+VAT which covers the first hour of work. Additional time is charged at our normal rate of £20+VAT per half-hour. Alternatively, you can pay for a survey visit at a cost of £35+VAT. We will then give you a fixed time and cost for the work. If you go ahead, the cost of the survey will be refunded to you. Evening or weekend work costs £90+VAT for the first hour and £30+VAT per half hour thereafter.

What else?

Occasionally the problem is not just one of grime. Tiles and grout may have become loose and will need refixing. Silver Saints can carry out this additional work as a separate job.

What if?

We all have a different idea of what “clean” is. The Silver Saints method of cleaning tiles is the most effective we know and will produce significantly better results than a mop and bleach. All of our customers to date have been delighted with the results but we cannot guarantee to restore tiles and grout to a “like new” condition. The results on the first few tiles will be there for you to see soon after we start work. If, within half an hour of starting work, you decide you do not wish to proceed to completion for any reason, only a minimum charge of £40+vat will apply.
